Press release 10.10.2018
Europe’s biggest low cost carrier Ryanair adds another new destination from Lappeenranta. During summer season 2019 Ryanair offers flights to Milan Bergamo (Wednesdays and Saturdays), to Athens (Wednesdays) and to Thessaloniki (Thursdays). Flights to all three destinations commence in April.
Due to earlier start of Athens route and the new route to Thessaloniki, Ryanair’s total seat capacity from Lappeenranta will grow by 40% compared to summer season 2018.
Seaside city Thessaloniki in northern Greece is the second largest city in Greece with a population of 1 Million inhabitants and it is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Beautiful holiday destinations like Halkidiki and Kavala can be easily reached via Thessaloniki.
”We have been extremely happy with co-operation with Ryanair. Flights during summer season 2018 have been great success and many of the flights have been sold out. Ryanair’s tempting low fares and our joint marketing actions have supported this development. Now we are in situation, where there’s more demand than capacity and we warmly welcome this capacity increase with another new destination from Lappeenranta”, says Eija Joro, CEO of Lappeenranta Airport.

We keep on developing connecting traffic and services at the airport to support further growth. We have been delighted to see growing numbers of Italian and Greek passengers arriving at Lappeenranta in the heart of best Finnish Lakeland. Passengers have found Lappeenranta Airport as an easy gateway to Finland and to exciting metropolis of St. Petersburg, which is only 2 hours away from Lappeenranta Airport,” Eija Joro continues.
Chris Lundshøj, Sales and Marketing Executive Scandinavia & Baltics for Ryanair says:
